There is no doubt that Borderlands has a lot of interesting characters. Among them, we can find Aurelia, the Baroness. Aurelia is the sister of Sir Hammerlock, one of the most important characters in the game. This villain and ally of Handsome Jack is one of the secondary antagonists of Borderlands 3, but in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, she is a playable character.
Being one of the least popular characters, very few people understand the enormous potential of Aurelia, so in this guide, we will see the best builds for Aurelia in the Pre-Sequel.
Aurelia Skill Tree
The Huntress Skill Tree
Increases critical hit damage and aim speed with all gun types by +6% and 20% per rank, respectively.
Increases bullet speed and Magazine size by +20% and +1 per rank, respectively.
Scoring a critical hit increases gun damage for a few seconds
After you miss a shot with a Sniper Rifle you gain increased Fire Rate, Accuracy, Critical Hit Damage, and Weapon Swap Speed for a few seconds. These bonuses apply to all guns.
Killing an enemy with a Critical Hit adds a bullet into your Magazine. Does not work with Rocket Launchers.
Shooting an enemy with a sniper rifle grants you a stack of I Never Miss. Critical Hits that would give a stack of I Never Miss instead give two stacks. Increases Sniper Rifle Critical Hit Damage for each stack of I Never Miss. All stacks are lost if/when you fire a Sniper Rifle and Miss.
Scoring a Critical Hit causes you to regenerate health for a few seconds. The closer you are to the enemy, the more health regenerated. Additionally, scoring a Critical Hit with a Sniper Rifle creates a Healing Nova centered on that enemy, healing nearby allies and granting them a Second Wind if needed. Healing Novas restore more health the further you are from your target.
Missing a shot with a Sniper Rifle grants you a stack of Wait for It. Increases Sniper Rifle Damage for every stack of Wait for It. Damaging an enemy with a Sniper Rifle consumes all stacks of Wait for It.
Increases Gun Damage and Reload Speed, but decreases Magazine Size. These bonuses and penalties apply to all gun types.
After suffering Melee damage or having your Shield depleted after fully recharging, you gain increased Movement Speed, Reload Speed, And Gun Damage for a short time.
When zoomed in with a Sniper Rifle, a wheel scrolls by with icons featuring each of the elemental damage types. Time your shots with the highlighted icon to add that element to your shot and each subsequent shot until you zoom out. Scoring a Critical Hit in this manner creates a small Nova, Dealing additional elemental damage to nearby enemies.
Cold Money Tree
Dealing Cryo Damage to an enemy grants you a stack of Avalanche. You may only gain a single Avalanche stack from each enemy. Each stack of Avalanche grants a bonus to Cryo Damage and Freeze Chance. Avalanche stacks begin to decay after a short time, and decay quickly upon dealing Incendiary Damage or entering Fight For Your Life.
Taking damage from an enemy while your shield is fully charged fires an Ice Dart at that enemy, dealing Cryo Damage.
Dealing Cryo Damage to an enemy while Cold as Ice is active grants you a stack of Short Summer. Improves Action Skill Cooldown Rate and Shield Recharge Delay for each stack of Short Summer. Stacks begin to decay once Cold as Ice ends, and all stacks are lost upon activating Cold as Ice.
Activating Cold as Ice causes you to knock back all nearby enemies. Forcing your Shard to switch targets causes you to knock back all enemies again. Enemies can only be knocked back by Winter’s Fury once every few seconds.
Kill Skill. Killing an enemy causes a portion of Cryo Damage dealt to enemies to be converted into healing for a short time.
When your Frost Shard attaches to an enemy, it has a chance to spawn Ice Fragments, which fly towards nearby enemies and deal Cryo Damage. The first time your Frost Shard attaches to an enemy after being thrown, it will always spawn Ice Fragments.
Any enemy Damaged by your shard takes Increased Cryo Damage for a few seconds. Frostbite also disrupts enemies shields making them take more Cryo damage.
Whenever your Frost Shard attaches to an enemy, it has a chance to create a singularity, pulling in nearby enemies. The first time your Frost Shard attaches to an enemy after being thrown, it will always create a singularity.
Increases Critical Hit Damage. Additionally, scoring a Critical Hit while Cold as Ice is active extends its duration. This skill has diminishing returns.
While Cold as Ice is active, enemies near you deal decreased damage.
When struck by a melee attack, or when your Shield becomes depleted, you emit a Cryo Nova with a high chance of freezing enemies. Your shield must fully recharge between Cryo Novas.
Kill Skill. Killing an enemy causes all of your non-Cryo guns to deal Cryo Damage along with their usual element type, and causes Cryo guns to deal even more Cryo Damage.
Best equipment for Aurelia
Best weapon: The Skullmasher
This weapon is ideal for Aurelia. With her Skill Tree, she benefits a lot from the critical damage of a Sniper Rifle, and this is ideal for that. But on the other hand, it can fire six ammunition at the same time, so she can also use it as a shotgun and activate other effects like I Never Miss or Magic Bullet.
Other rifles that can also be very useful with Aurelia are Snider or Droog.
As a second weapon, we recommend using Hail. This machine gun will be very useful when fighting difficult bosses that will kill you in a few seconds. Its effect with Life Steal will allow you to stay in battle while hitting critical hits and doing cryo damage.
Best Shield: Tediore Shields
There is no specific shield that we can recommend with The Baroness. Instead of looking for a shield that has a particular effect, you should focus on finding one that has a quick charge to activate Aurelia’s skills. For that, Tediore brand shields will be the best, as they are the fastest-charging shields in the entire game.
Best Grenade: Storm Front
Since Cryo damage is weak against shields, you will need something additional to destroy them, and Storm Front is perfect for that. Whenever you see a wave of shielded enemies, start the fight with one of these grenades and get your rifle ready, you’ll see how fast you can finish them off.
Best Oz Kit: Juggernaut
This Oz Kit is usually not the best in the game, but with Aurelia you will get the most out of it. Since you will be using Tediore shields, you will have a fast charge, but a low shield. If you are under attack, most of Aurelia’s skills will not activate, and you will be susceptible to an enemy attack. That’s when this shield comes into play, giving you the extra defense you need to survive when enemies catch you in a bad position.
Best Class Mod: Celestial Baroness
Did you notice that in the Skill Tree, there are some skills with 8 or 9 points? That’s because of this Class Mod. Apart from the extra points, you will get a huge damage increase, giving you a chance to survive a bit longer.
